Traffic Signal Priority

Traffic Signal Priority (TSP) is configured to control signal priority for vehicles running behind schedule.  The TransitMaster™ system will monitor schedule adherence and trigger a request for priority by extending a green light or shortening the length of a red light.

When a vehicle is off schedule (as determined by onboard schedule adherence and threshold values defined by the agency), a vehicle emitter device automatically sends the necessary data to sensors at designated intersections.  The sensors send information to processing units, which determine the priority action of the traffic signal controllers.  Based on the information received, the controllers initiate control of the traffic lights at the intersection
